18th May 2003 Windsurfing: Golf Course Car Park, Borth Wind Direction: WSW Wind Stength: 20 knots Surf / Sea State: 3 foot messy surf Air Temperature: 12C Sea Temperature: 11C Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: Steve, Stuart and I first waited for the tide to drop off the pebbles and watched a DVD in the caravan and eventually gave it a go with 5.7m(ish) sails, but there wasn't enough. Stuart and Steve rigged 6.2's in the end, but as they did the wind picked up and I was well powered up with the 5.7m. Joe was out on a 5.7m too and as the wind filled in, the surf picked up with some monster swells out the back. A really good session in the end with some nice jumps and some good wave rides. It was good to feel comfortable is such rough conditions and able to go for biggish jumps. Ben came out for a bit with a 5.3m but didn't get going. the wind then dropped a bit and we all packed up, but it picked up again and Ben now seemed to be sailing OK. Derek, Darren and about 3 others were out kitesurfing as well. |
